Lots of policies are based on business days. Can we have an UDF that does datediff but only counts business days - excluding weekends at least?
Is the answer to this the same for all geographies? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Workweek_and_weekend#Muslim_countries for example describes differing policies in Muslim countries, and worse, you have to take into account holidays etc. like Christmas in the US, Orthodox Christmas in Russia, etc.. So... not as easy as it looks If you have a table that actually lists all the dates and for the relevant geography has a 1 or 0 for actual business days/non-business days you could compute this -- similar to how Kimball style data warehousing practices recommend the use of a date dimension table: https://medium.com/@duffn/creating-a-date-dimension-table-in-postgresql-af3f8e2941ac How to apply this data once you have it is an exercise left to the reader :/
